In the tea room in Fukujuen Kyoto Flagship Store, you can experience tea ceremony.Although you may have a formal image of a tea ceremony, each procedure and etiquette has its own meaning, and once you understand the meaning, you will be able to understand and enjoy tea more deeply.At the matcha experience at Kyoto Flagship Store, you can follow the authentic procedure from the stage before entering the tea ceremony room to experience the true atmosphere of a tea ceremony. Our professional staff will teach you in detail.

The tea room is illuminated only by the light of Japanese candles. After enjoying thin tea at “night Tea Ceremony”, you can enjoy French cuisine prepared by chefs who have received “Contemporary Craftsman” award and “Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award”, as well as drinks and desserts made with Fukujuen tea. Please enjoy this special course, available only at Fukujuen Kyoto Flagship Store and limited to 1 group per day. Reservations required by 6:00 p.m. seven days in advance.

Night tea ceremony…A casual evening tea ceremony where you can enjoy thin tea in an authentic tea room on the 4th floor of Kyoto Flagship Store. The tea room is illuminated only by the faint light of Japanese candles. You will experience a tranquil atmosphere as if you have stepped back in time to a time when there was no electric lighting.

French dinner…You can enjoy the fusion of Ujicha and French cuisine prepared with the chef’s signature sauce, which has received “Contemporary Craftsman” award and “Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Award”. Welcome drink and dessert made with Fukujuen tea are also available. Enjoy a special evening in a gorgeous space with a taste of Kyoto’s imperial culture.

Ujicha Kobo Workshop Tea ceremony lesson

You can learn all the manners you should know at a tea ceremony in a real tea room. You can learn how to enter the tea ceremony room, how to receive tea and look at tea utensils while having fun.
※Sweets included. In principle, it is held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Reservation required at least 3 days in advance.

Ujicha Kobo Workshop Sencha tea ceremony lesson

Sencha tea ceremony is said to have been founded in the early Edo period by a monk named Ingen. This tea ceremony is an etiquette of enjoying gyokuro and sencha teas in a teapot.
※Sweets included. In principle, it is held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Reservation required at least 3 days in advance.
